A companion album to the acclaimed 2024 release Ecce Homo
Following the acclaimed release of Ecce Homo in 2024, Gavin Friday returns with Decadance, a companion album that reimagines six tracks from the original record as one continuous electronic work.
Inspired by pioneering reinterpretations such as The Human League’s League Unlimited Orchestra album Love and Dancing, Decadance is far more than a remix collection. The original recordings have been deconstructed and rebuilt into an immersive journey where songs dissolve into one another, creating a seamless listening experience from beginning to end.
Created with longtime collaborator Michael Heffernan, Decadance draws on industrial rhythms, analogue electronics, techno pulse and cinematic sound design. Familiar melodies emerge from driving sequencers, fractured beats and expansive atmospheres, revealing a darker, more hypnotic perspective on the emotional world of Ecce Homo.
Where Ecce Homo explored identity, desire, mortality and redemption through deeply personal songwriting, Decadance refracts those themes through texture, rhythm and repetition. It is a companion piece that stands alongside the original album, inviting listeners to experience its songs in an entirely new light.
Bold, uncompromising and unmistakably Gavin Friday, Decadance continues a career built on artistic reinvention. Rather than revisiting the past, it expands the world of Ecce Homo, transforming six of its songs into a continuous electronic suite that blurs the lines between art, atmosphere and the dancefloor.
