  • Summer’s Wreath: Gavin Friday on Yeats

    ‘Summer’s Wreath’, a month long celebration of the works of the Irish poet William Butler Yeats, will conclude on Wednesday, June 30th at 8pm with a performance by Gavin Friday.   • Gavin Friday signs to Rubyworks

    Rubyworks are delighted to announce the signing of singer, composer and artiste Gavin Friday to the label. Gavin has been working on songs for a studio album since 2008; co-writing with Cork based keyboard player Herbie Macken. The pair first collaborated for the Patrick McCabe play ‘The Revenant’ for the Druid Theatre Company in 2007. Recording for the album started last summer in Dublin, with producer Ken Thomas (Sigur Ros, Moby, M83) at the controls.     In last Sunday’s Washington Post, Sinead O’Connor wrote an impassioned letter about sex abuse in the Catholic Church in Ireland and The Vatican and Pope Benedict’s involvement in the Church’s cover up.   • Gavin Friday sings Lipstick with Preachers Son

    Gavin Friday sings the song ‘Lipstick’ on Irish band Preachers Son’s album ‘Life, Love and Limb’. Preachers Son are Kila’s Brian Hogan, Engine Alley’s Emmaline Duffy-Fallon and José Carlos Anselmo Flores. They recorded their debut album with producer Ciaran Cahill and it was mixed by Dave Bascombe (who also worked on Gavin Friday’s own “Adam ‘n’ Eve”).   • ‘Angel’ on William Orbit 3-CD set

    Gavin Friday’s ‘Angel’ is featured on ‘Odyssey’, a 3-CD set of producer William Orbit’s work compiled for Ministry of Sound, due out on 25th January. ‘Odyssey’ is Orbit’s first compilation. It features 42 tracks divided into 3 discs (see tracklisting). Discs 1 and 2 are unmixed, with many tracks reinterpreted to a greater or lesser extent, and Disc 3 is a continuous mix. Orbit has written sleeve notes on each track and invites fans to add their own memories and information on the tracks through Twitter (@WilliamOrbit) and his blog.     Gavin Friday will be joining the Gavin Bryars Ensemble for a performance of Nothing Like the Sun (The Shakespeare Sonnets) at Lancaster University (UK) at 7.30pm on November 26, 2009.
